Hyderabad10K run...Half Marathon..

He did it! Twenty one whole Kilometers of running, walking, jogging. When he initially came to know about this, he thought its only for Ten Kilometers and registered for it. Later when he came to know that actually a marathon is for forty two Kilometers and a half marathon is for twenty one kilometers, he thought why would any one want to run twenty one kilometers and end up aching his body. Two hours and 35 minutes after he started, he had the answer..It takes 21 Kilometers of running to figure out how good it feels to finally stop running.
It all started like this..There was an anouncement in his chat alias posting a link for Hyderbad10K run. He went ahead and registered for it, since he is an an ameteur trying to lose some weight. He thought that it would be a nice platform to socialise with the people. When he also came to know that some beautiful chicks would also be joining the run, it brought him to life. He transformed into a world, where he was beating everyone in the race and winning the medal. He even dreamt of winning 100 kms races. It all looked so easy. Twenty one kilometers was puny in comparision he thought.. and so he resolved to run the hyderabad half marathon.
One the D day, he cursed his snoozed iphone alarm three times, before he had to get up with his mom's voice at 4:30 am in the morning. He know he would never ever sacrifice his sleep for any thing. There he was, in KBR park all set for his first run. The race started at 5:30 am in the morning. The initial 30 mins was easy peace of cake. And later time has stopped moving for him. He was straining, gasping and panting and about to give up. But then he saw a beautiful girl running and crossing him. He never felt so shameful in his life, this gave him some motivation. He limped, huffed and puffed for another 5 mins and he finally gave up. He was soaked with sweat though the temparature is hardly warm. Walked a couple of kilometers and went back, a dejected and demoralized runner he was. Then he saw another girl giggling at him. He could not decide whether the giggle-connotation was negative and his sixth sense stopped him from inviting embarrassment by asking about the giggle. He was on target till the 15K mark. His hamstrings were on fire, his calves ached, his ankles pained, His knees pained, his groin pained, even his shoulder pained. After all this, he was asking himself what, exactly he was expecting in Marathon.
He had to slow down and regretfully decide to shoot his desire of winning the medal in the next race. He stopped, walked a bit and started again. He did this for 3 times and finally there was just 1K left. He don't know where it came from but suddenly he was fresh again. But he asked his alter ego, why is the last kilometer longer than the actual kilometer. He pretty much sprinted down that stretch, with lots of people clapping and cheering him on. And finally a beautiful girl came and honoured him with a medal. For a moment he thought it was his wedding garland, but later he came to know that the medal is given to all the people who completed the race and it is the same girl who is giving the medal to all of them. He really want to thank all those policemen who held up the traffic for them. He felt like a VIP all through the run.
2 hours and 35 mins, he thought its ok for the first timer who had never run more than 6K in practise. He loved the run. He loved the race. He'll do it again, and again, and again, he told to his alter ego, his soulmate. He feel sore but contented.

Twenty Four!!!

A passer-by noticed an old lady sitting on her front step:
"I couldn't help noticing how happy you look! What is your secret for such a long, happy life?"

"I smoke 4 packs of cigarettes a day", she said.
"Before I go to bed, I smoke a nice big joint. Apart from that, I drink a whole bottle of Jack Daniels every week, and eat only junk food. On weekends I pop a huge number of pills and do no exercise at all."

"This is absolutely amazing at your age", says the passer-by. "How old are you?"

"Twenty four"!!!

Now the question is wht's better -- 25 years like this or 100 years as...Whatever?

My Latest phone: Iphone 3G

Its almost have been 3 months since I started using this IPhone, and I would say I am loving it to the core. This device is fascinating me and its my latest passion now. Except the battery life, I don't seem to have much to complain about. There might be people complaning about it, saying Iphone isn’t much better than any other phone, but in fact it is. This isn’t about being talked into it, it’s about the apps and the UI. It is just nicer to use and has more features/apps than any comparable phone. It’s also clear to the consumer that a virtuous cycle of app support is already in full effect. Any other argument is delusional..

Some other plus points include
  • Very easy to use with no bells and whistles.
  • Multi touch allows a lot more easy to change font sizes webpages and editing photos
  • Seamless access to exchange, Gmail, Facebook and other online communication services.
  • Access to centralized App Store
  • Seamlessly browse the internet through wifi. Trust me I do it everywhere , office, home, road..
I am not a big fan of Apple, but since when I started using their ipod 2g,3g..I must admit I am in love with their products. This post is not a review of Iphone 3g but just sharing of my excitement on possessing one. I would write a detailed post on Iphone apps but for now I would just share what apps I have installed on it. I currently have Twitterrific, eReader,Dictionary,Evernote, facebook, paper Toss, AroundMe, BrainTuner, Brain Teaser, Hanoi, Labyrinth LE, Subway Lite, Blackjack, Fastlane Lite, WikiTap, IM+, LockBox, Upcoming, Action..Free, Audi A4, CatchaMouse, ChaseTheDot,reMovem free, FGT Lite vers, TurkeyHunt, Shazam, Birthday, Google, Tap Tap, CanonGame, Brick 2D Free.. I know they are lot many...If any one of you know more cool apps please write a comment..We can spread the word...

Take a look at this beauty…

I know ,I know , all you jealous fellows…. :) ,
I call from this one ;) ))

The Petabyte Age : Storage Stats

I am quite amazed when I came across the following storage stats.
Facebook has just over 1.5 petabyte of users' photos stored, translating into roughly 10 billion photos.[8] http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=76191543919&ref=mf

· Telecoms: AT&T has about 16 petabytes of data transferred through their networks each day.[3]
· Archives: The Internet Archive contains about 3 petabytes of data, and is growing at the rate of about 100 terabytes per month as of March, 2009.[4][5]

· Internet: Google processes about 20 petabytes of data per day.[6]

· Physics: The 4 experiments in the Large Hadron Collider will produce about 15 petabytes of data per year, which will be distributed over the LHC Computing Grid.[7]

· Social networks: Facebook has just over 1.5 petabyte of users' photos stored, translating into roughly 10 billion photos.[8]

· P2P networks: Isohunt has about 1.6 petabytes of files contained in torrents indexed globally.[9]

· Online storage: RapidShare stated in April 2008 that it had 5.4 petabytes of storage for users.[10]

The following article gives a brief introduction about Peta Byte Storage

Life is precious..

On the way to office today, I noticed that a water tanker had run over a person today morning near Gachibowli 'Subway' region. What a tragedy, the employee family suffers now, I found out that he is an Infosys employee. Who is accountable to prevent this fatal road accident tragedy on roads , law enforcement, RTO (make sure only the ones who can drive well are license), or the road users, or all of them need to do their bit for safer road, what’s wrong , or what’s right not happening ? Something needs to be done; the developed countries brought it down by law enforcements and good infrastructure (for example, I do not see any pedestrian crossings anywhere on the roads in Hyderabad). Unfortunately, We (Indians) have reached to a state where we not just ride on the vehicles on road but ride on our luck too!
Overall the trend is alarming; India is the #1 in road deaths: http://bit.ly/OXH7I
Life is precious and the present day pressures are taking away few of our nerves while driving. Let's not be engulfed by those false pressures. At the max, we might be 10 mins late to office..Lets appreciate the value of life and drive safely.
