Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy, AP chief minister has been killed in a chopper crash along with four others, and What's following after that with this media Jingoism is a shame on Andhra Politics. In this incident YSR, the principal secretary, the chief security officer and the two pilots died. I do feel sorry for the two pilots who lost their lives in this incident. I express my heart felt condolences and pray god to give the friends and family of the deceased, enough courage and strength to bear this unfortunate incident. Dr.YSR, no doubt he is a great leader, who has lot of mass following, I have seen people who treat him as a god, and I know some families who was benefited by his schemes.
My Orthodox upbringing suggest me that we should pay tributes to the dead, but I can't take it any more. The media has made him as hero more than necessary. I am not sure if he deserve such respect or did he do so much for the poor, But If he is not then media is certainly passing wrong message. Now the media also claims that more than 200 people across Andhra Pradesh have died of shock or committed suicide after they heard the news of YSR death. The figure is too much eleavated and the reality is, it is not even to close to those figures. Every one knows that, most of these media channels are backed by the politicians who belong to the same party. What's even more appalling, as I hear now, Y.S. Jagan 37, has emerged as the front runner to succeed his father YSR as the AP chief minister. Now many YSR followers are spreading the news saying that “When Indira Gandhi expired Rajiv Gandhi was made the prime minister. Why not Jagan be made chief minister now?” The decision also has a backing of some hundred plus MLA's. There is lot of politics added to this, the ministry formed by Dr. YSR will be invalid after his death, and if Y.S.Jagan is elected as CM, he is most likely to keep the same ministers. Many MLA's met Union Minister for law and in-charge of party affairs in the state M. Veerappa Moily and submitted a memorandum to make him the chief minister. Senior leaders like Rosaiah and others are even dancing to the tunes of the other MLA's. Some party workers sitting outside Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters in the city, is now saying that they would not accept anybody other than YSR’s son to head the state government.

I have seen him directly challenging Ramaoji Rao and using foul language in the media after his father is reelected as CM in the recent elections. The Satyam scam saga has lot to do with YSR, who is the chief minister that time. Most of the benefits of the programs introduced by him went to congress party workers. The funds are misused and state economy is almost at the blink. If they continue to rob it like this we will not be left with any state owned assets to recover. Still media tries to fool everyone..Yesterday I was watching YSR's funeral, before he was buried, Gemini TV started a program why & how Jagan is a great leader. It was so ridiculously scripted and trying to pass on a message "there is no better leader than jagan in AP". Earlier people used to do lobbying for a person but now channels are doing lobbying.
The nation should move on from blind hero worshipping. The dirty clan of Indian politicians and their bootlicking nature should come to an end. They need to start getting inspired by real leaders. "Politics is like the weather: everybody discusses it but nobody actually does anything about it", As rightly said, may be I am one among the lost crowd. I really really hope YSR's saga doesn't end like this.

Hmm...but that is politics brother. You can see similar shades when ex-CM Naidu took over the legendary NTR. Later Naidu grew up to the extent that entire India recognized him. You never know how people change after responsibility comes. Everything is possible. Remember that none liked Naidu initially. Things changed later on. Almost every politician have some stains of blood somewhere or the other either directly or indirectly. You may find exceptions like JP though. I will vote for JP as CM. But then he is a one man army. That is democracy. Good or bad ...what ever people say is right. You do not have a choice. Have to go by the masses. And fortunately or unfortunately, MLA's voices are so called public voices.
ReplyDeleteI am really worried about future of AP. AP can even test Jagan for these 4 years. Not a problem. AP people are wiser in making decisions during elections. It is not like AP doesn't have a great leader, but possibly congress.
I am sure this is not only the opinion of blogger himself, It's opinion of 90% of people, 99% of educated people, leaving opportunistic politicians. Who, unfortunately form 90% of A.P politicians. Pointing to Rajiv Gandhi incident for justifying Jagan for the C.M post is like saying "see we throwed a stone closing our eyes and it went close to hitting the target, so why not try once again". I would even say the comparision is even not fair. Rajiv did came with clean record, unlike Jagan who already is said to be involved in n no of scams.

ReplyDeleteAs people above said its not a the case that AP desnt have good leaders than jagan, but i think congress have very little options to choose from, when all MLAs are echoing the same song.
So far i didnt see any direct comments from jagan. Nothing different will happen,unless jagan rejects the post to any senior leader from congress.
And 90% i dont see that happening.
So we could only hope that this guy with his ugly past record,will turn to valmiki... fingers crossed.

I completely oppose making jagan as CM. People need to work hard to get the top job. It cannot be inherited. And nobody can demand that. He has to prove himself and to the people all over the state. like YSR did before 2004 elections.

After all its Indian Politics, you cannot expect anything other than this. But we should hope it changes now atleast. But the strange thing is its like villian turning out to be a hero when ppl heard about his death recommending for awards and other stuff.

ReplyDeleteBut i would like to comment on the way that you have described the leadership of Late.YSR. i want to remind you his comprehensive victory in the last elections.It might be your personal opinion but not the majority of the people.After the last elections even Nara or Chiru has not even dared to comment on the victory of YSR, so i dont think we should comment on how he has won the elections and what he has done from past 5 years and to whom he has done the favour.
Coming to the Jagan issue, its those MLA's selfishness to use the lagacy of YSR by giving the CM seat to jagan and of course it wont be that effective if it goes to any one else in their perspective, so they are trying for the optimam use out of it in terms of future. As per your wish if not jagan, so who should be the next person?? and what is the problem in bringing up the young CM and start the new era in AP politics? By mentioning one or two incidents of jagan, you are doubting his leadership abilities and of course even i am not favouring him but we can not predict the abilities of a person on the basis of incidents which you have mentioned.
Anyways we can not opt for elections again :-)
